an’-ti-krist (antichristos)

One who is to come; a political leader who will falsely set up a covenant with Israel and lead the world during the tribulation.

Scripture: I John 2:18

“Little children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that the Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come, by which we know that it is the last hour.

AUTHOR’S BACKGROUND

John wrote the gospel of John, John I, II, III and the Revelation of Jesus Christ.  It is this same John who was at the foot of the cross at Jesus during his crucifixion and it was John whose care Mary was left in (John 19:26).  It is the same John who understood the revelation of the love God towards man, it is he who penned John 3:16.  He was not martyred as the other disciples (see Fox Book of Martyrs). John was the only biblical author to use the term antichrist (the spirit of) he also referred to the Antichrist as the Beast.

Other Biblical Authors use other terms when referring to the antichrist.

Paul used the termman of Sin” and “son of perdition(2 Thessalonians 2:3).

Gospel scriptures concerning the antichrist:For many shall come in my name, saying , I am Christ; and shall deceive many” (Matthew 24:5; Mark 13:6) “Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not” (Matthew 24:23) “For there shall arise false Christ’s, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; in so much that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect” (Matthew 24:24) “Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold , he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not” (Matthew 24:26; Mark 13:6).

Old Testament:

Daniel refers to the Antichrist as ’the king’And the king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvelous things against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished: for that that is determined shall be done.  Neither shall he regard the God of his fathers, nor the desire of women, nor regard any god: for he shall magnify himself above all. But in his estate shall he honor the God of forces: and a god whom his fathers’ knew not shall he honor with gold, and silver, and with precious stones, and pleasant things (Daniel 11: 35-38).

The person

I saw another beast coming up out of the earth,

and He had two horns like a lamb and spoke like a dragon.”

Satan’s imitation of the Divine Trinity: Dragon (Satan), the Beast (Antichrist) and the False Prophet.

The Antichrist is the third person in the unholy trinity The False Prophet causes the Earth and them which dwell therein to worship the First Beast (or the Antichrist, Revelation 13:12).  The False Prophet will have the power to give life imitating the Holy Spirit (Rev. 13:15; Larkin), “The Beast will be the embodiment of the entire spirit of antichrist” (pg 262).

The spirit

“The Benchmark by which these false prophets were to be tested concerned their attitude toward the incarnate person of Jesus Christ” (page 261).

·         “And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come ; and even now already is it in the world” (1 John 4:3).

…“try the spirits whether they are of God…” (I John 4:1).

Points of Discussion and instructional Point of Views (POV’s)

*   Common Worldly Terms” Beast, Twisted, etc

*   Common sayings: “Many roads lead to god.” (O. Super Soul Sunday)

*   Both God and Satan have power but only God has Authority and is sovereign in it.

End Game:

And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night forever and ever.”
